Daikoku PA 2026 |From Local Car Haven to Global Supercar Playground

The Changing Face of a Legend
Daikoku PA has a long history, and for Japanese car enthusiasts, it’s a place everyone knows—a kind of pilgrimage spot you visit at least once. But in recent years, the scene has changed dramatically. The place is now packed with foreign tourists, and that nostalgic atmosphere people once loved is essentially gone.
Back in the day, Daikoku was famous as a gathering spot for heavily modified cars. These days, however, the crowds of tourists have led to frequent police shutdowns of the parking area. Random inspections targeting modified cars happen more often, and the local street racers who once defined the vibe have slowly disappeared.
The Rise of Commercial Tours & "Movie Cars"
On the other hand, one thing you’ll see far more of now is supercars—an overwhelming number of them. Most are part of commercial tour operations, and every night you’ll find what looks like an R35/R34 festival, with rows and rows of GT-Rs parked in formation. But look closely and you’ll realize most of the drivers are foreigners. In other words, these aren’t locals—they’re tourists renting high-end “supercar experiences” from various companies and rolling into Daikoku PA as part of the package.
At this point, Daikoku PA is no longer a hangout for Japan’s local car community. It’s become a collection point for tourists, by foreigners living in Japan, filled with officially modified rental supercars.
And perhaps the most embarrassing sight is the Fast & Furious–themed tour groups. Why embarrassing? Because the cars aren’t even real replicas—they’re knockoffs. You’ll see a four-door ER34 wrapped to look like Paul Walker’s iconic sonic silver R34 Skyline GT-R… and not just one, but four of them. It’s a growing trend: flashy, entertainment-oriented “movie cars” that feel completely disconnected from the true local scene.
Finding Authentic Culture in the New Era
That said, every now and then you do stumble upon something genuinely special—a rare LEXUS LFA, a wild custom van with a Gundam-style spoilers, or other gems that make locals light up like they’ve spotted a shiny Pokémon. And to be fair, seeing Liberty Walk GT-Rs, RWB Porsches, and other high-end builds all in one place can still be a fun experience, especially for visitors. And of course we will take you on our street custom JZX100, keeping it JDMauthentic 100%
After nearly three years of running our Daikoku tours, we’ve watched this transformation happen in real time. Being able to share these changes with our guests feels meaningful to us. In a way, showing this evolving chapter of Japan’s car culture is part of the experience of visiting Japan itself.
It’s a different flavor from our top-recommended Local Drift Car Meet Tours, but if you’d like to explore Daikoku PA with us and learn about the history behind Japan’s automotive culture, we’d be more than happy to show you around.
