What cars are used in the Drifting Lesson School?
We will start with the Miata NB for all beginners of the drifting lesson. Once we can see that you have mastered the basic drifting skills we can move you up to a Mazda RX-8 or Nissan 350Z. We can also rent our Nissan 180SX or Nissan Silvia for advanced skilled drivers for additional fee. Please contact us for advanced drifting lesson schools as well.

What cars are used in the Fuji Speedway Self Drive Experience?
For the Fuji Speedway self drive experience, you can drive our Toyota GT86 or if there is availability at the circuit, you can also drive a Toyota GR Supra or Yaris or LEXUS LC500 depending on availability.

What cars are used in the JDM Car Meet Tour?
We will pick you up for the JDM Car meet tour in either a Toyota Celica, Toyota JZX100 Chaser / Mark II, Toyota Crown, or Honda van for large group size.

What cars are used in the ride along drifting experience?
Cars used in the ride along drift experience are Mazda Miata MX-5 NB, Mazda RX-8, Nissan 350Z, Nissan Silvia S14 / S15, Nissan 180SX, Toyota JZX100 Chaser / Mark II. We also have a replica Nissan Skyline Undercover Police car for entertainment.

How many rounds do we get in the ride along drifting experience?
Each person will get 3 rounds each for the ride along experience. We will start with basic donuts and figure 8s in the first round then start doing more intense high speed turning in the second round and we can do a little police car chase for the final round to get a taste of a real Tokyo Drift experience.

How easy is it to learn a donut in the drifting lesson?
About 80% of our guests learn to do a donut in our drifting lessons. About 40% move up to figure 8s and about 3% will reach our graduation course for the drifting lessons.

Can we combine a drifting lesson with a JDM Car meet tour?
Yes you can combine any of our drifting tours. We can give you a 10% discount code for every second booking you make. Please let us know how you want to combine our drifting tours and experiences together.

The drifting lesson school is 6 hours or 3 hours?
The drifting lesson school is 3 hours long. The transportation up to the circuit from Tokyo is 1.5 hours one way so 3 hours in total. Which makes the entire drifting lesson school activity 6 hours in total including the lesson and transportation time.

Do I need a license for the drift lesson?
No license or International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for our drift lessons — All you need to bring is your passion, we’ll handle the rest!

What is the minimum age to participate the drift lesson?
For most drifting experiences, participants must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For our Daikoku Tokyo Drift Tours, children under 12 can also join. If you’re unsure about age eligibility, please contact us before booking — we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. -
Do we get to experience the police car chase in the drift lessons?
Yes! At the end of the drift lesson, you’ll enjoy an exclusive police car chase drift experience — a unique service only offered by Matenro Drift Racing. It’s the ultimate “Tokyo Drift” moment.

Can I custom any of the drift tours?
Absolutely. You can contact us before or after your booking, and we’ll work with you to tailor the drift experience to your preferences.

What kind of car will I be driving for the drift lesson?
Beginners typically start with a Mazda Miata MX-5. Once you’ve mastered the basics, we may upgrade you to a Mazda RX-8 or Nissan 350Z.
Advanced drift drivers can also drive our Nissan 180SX or Toyota JZX100 for an additional fee. -
Where is pickup and drop-off?
We offer pickup from your preferred location in Tokyo. A location within 5 km of Tokyo Station is ideal, but we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Is insurance included for the drift car?
Insurance is not provided, but any damage to the car or facility will be generally covered by us.
Please note: personal injury is not covered, and participants must sign a waiver before the drift experience.
You’ll be guided by an expert instructor, making accidents extremely rare. -
Can friends or family come along as spectators for the drifting experience?
Yes, spectators are welcome to tag along to the drifting expereince! If you let us know in advance, we’ll do our best to provide space in our transportation.

Will the instructor be in the car with me for the drift school lessons?
Yes. Your instructor for the drifting lesson school will support you throughout the experience and can ride with you to ensure you feel safe and confident.
You’ll also get to experience professional drifting from the passenger seat before taking the wheel yourself. -
Is the "Tokyo Drift" police car chase experience legal to do in Japan?
Yes. The ride along drifting experience takes place on a private circuit, allowing us to safely use the replica police vehicle. This popular drifting attraction is exclusive to our guests in Japan.
