Do I need a license for the drift lesson?
No license or International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for our drift lessons — All you need to bring is your passion; we’ll handle the rest!
Note: The self-drive option for our Fuji Speedway tour does require an International Driving Permit. -
What is the minimum age to participate?
For most tours, participants must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For our Daikoku Tours, children under 12 can also join. If you’re unsure about age eligibility, please contact us before booking — we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. -
Do we get to experience the police car chase in the drift lessons?
Yes! At the end of the lesson, you’ll enjoy an exclusive police car chase experience — a unique service only offered by Matenro Drift Racing. It’s the ultimate “Tokyo Drift” moment.

Can I custom any of the tours?
Absolutely. You can contact us before or after your booking, and we’ll work with you to tailor the experience to your preferences.

What kind of car will I be driving for the drift lesson?
Beginners typically start with a Mazda Miyata MX-5. Once you’ve mastered the basics, we may upgrade you to a Mazda RX-8 or Nissan 350Z.
Advanced drivers can also ride or drive our Nissan 180SX or Toyota JZX100 for a more intense experience. -
Where is pickup and drop-off?
We offer pickup from your preferred location in Tokyo. A location within 5 km of Tokyo Station is ideal, but we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Is insurance included for the drift car?
Insurance is not provided, but any damage to the car or facility will be fully covered by us.
Please note: personal injury is not covered, and participants must sign a waiver before the experience.
You’ll be guided by an expert instructor, making accidents extremely rare. -
Can friends or family come along as spectators?
Yes, spectators are welcome! If you let us know in advance, we’ll do our best to provide space in our transportation.

Will the instructor be in the car with me for the drift lesson?
Yes. Your instructor will support you throughout the experience and can ride with you to ensure you feel safe and confident.
You’ll also get to experience professional drifting from the passenger seat before taking the wheel yourself. -
Is the police car chase legal to do in Japan?
Yes. The chase takes place on a private circuit, allowing us to safely use the police vehicle. This popular attraction is exclusive to our guests in Japan.
