This activity is a completely private drifting lesson and school which offers the opportunity to actually self-drive a JDM drift car, with an OG teacher for beginners and intermediate experience drivers. We also have a replica undercover police vehicle so we can give you the feel of an actual police chase at the end of the session, just like a scene from the Tokyo Drift!
For beginners we will teach you to do a proper donut and if you master that, we will move on to a figure 8, e-brakes. For intermediate drivers, we will teach you more skills using higher gear changing. There is a graduation challenge course for everyone, let's see how much you can improve to clear this drifting experience challenge!
You will either be driving a Miata NB for beginners, Mazda RX-8 or Nissan 350Z for intermediate drivers, and Nissan 180SX or Toyota JZX100 for advanced skill drivers. Advanced skilled drivers will require to pay extra fee to be able to use these high performance cars. The cars and teachers will vary according to the day.
Also there will be free pickup from your desired location in Tokyo.
Drop-off will be Tokyo Station.

Lesson
Lesson will start at 9am or 1pm and will last for 3 hours.
You will learn how to do basic donuts and move on to figure 8s and side brake drifting depending on your skill level. If you pickup fast we will move to more advanced intermediate techniques using the bigger side of the circuit. -

* Please be at the designated mtg location at least 10 minutes before tour start time. -
Free Pickup & Drop-Off
All customers can be picked up at desired location, preferably within 5km radius of center of Tokyo. If the location is out of the 5km radius, pickup will be at Tokyo Station Marunouchi North Exit. Drop-off will be Tokyo Station for everyone.
MTG time will be 7:45am for the morning session and 11:30am for the afternoon session. More information regarding pickup will be given after your booking is confirmed with us. -

Vehicles will vary on the day of the booking, but we make sure all guests have the same amount of lesson time on each ride.

Cancellation Policy
You can cancel up to 1 week in advance of the experience for a full refund.
If you cancel less than 1 week before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. Any changes made less than 1 week before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time. If it’s canceled due to storm weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Do I need a license for the drift lesson?
No license or International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for our drift lessons — All you need to bring is your passion, we’ll handle the rest!

What is the minimum age to participate the drift lesson?
For most drifting experiences, participants must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For our Daikoku Tokyo Drift Tours, children under 12 can also join. If you’re unsure about age eligibility, please contact us before booking — we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Do we get to experience the police car chase in the drift lessons?
Yes! At the end of the drift lesson, you’ll enjoy an exclusive police car chase drift experience — a unique service only offered by Matenro Drift Racing. It’s the ultimate “Tokyo Drift” moment.

What kind of car will I be driving for the drift lesson?
Beginners typically start with a Mazda Miata MX-5. Once you’ve mastered the basics, we may upgrade you to a Mazda RX-8 or Nissan 350Z.
Advanced drift drivers can also drive our Nissan 180SX or Toyota JZX100 for an additional fee.

Can friends or family come along as spectators for the drift experience?
Yes, spectators are welcome to tag along to the drift expereince! If you let us know in advance, we’ll do our best to provide space in our transportation.

Will the instructor be in the car with me for the drift school lessons?
Yes. Your instructor for the drift school lessons will support you throughout the experience and can ride with you to ensure you feel safe and confident.
You’ll also get to experience professional drifting from the passenger seat before taking the wheel yourself.

The drifting lesson school is 6 hours or 3 hours?
The drifting lesson school is 3 hours long. The transportation up to the circuit from Tokyo is 1.5 hours one way so 3 hours in total. Which makes the entire drifting lesson school activity 6 hours in total including the lesson and transportation time.

Can we combine a drifting lesson with a JDM Car meet tour?
Yes you can combine any of our drifting tours. We can give you a 10% discount code for every second booking you make. Please let us know how you want to combine our drifting tours and experiences together.

How easy is it to learn a donut in the drifting lesson?
About 80% of our guests learn to do a donut in our drifting lessons. About 40% move up to figure 8s and about 3% will reach our graduation course for the drifting lessons.
